Overview

Many online businesses adopt digital wallet (or e-wallet) payment methods, such as PayPal, to help win customers who desire anonymity, or who do not make online purchases with credit cards. With digital wallets, customers are secure in the knowledge that only their chosen service provider can access their bank or credit card information, as well as the convenience of paying for purchases after a simple login. PayPal offers broad penetration of this market, providing global access, as well as brand recognition. The Vindicia Subscribe API supports PayPal Express Checkout flow and reference transactions. With PayPal Express Checkout, a subscriber can initiate payment for a purchase by clicking a PayPal button on your merchant website. The subscriber is then redirected to the PayPal login page to complete the payment process. After payment is complete, the subscriber is redirected back to your merchant site. If your PayPal account is enabled for reference transactions (subsequent billings through the same account), the first payment through PayPal Express Checkout also creates a billing agreement to enable recurring purchases without further intervention by the subscriber. This article describes the following:
  • Enabling the Vindicia Subscribe API to Access PayPal
