Basic Scenario

The Subscription has reached the season start date for the sports league and the subscriber’s credit card on file is charged for the new season.

Design Approach

Unlike a standard Subscription, a seasonal Subscription starts and ends based on the Season Set associated with the Billing Plan for the given Subscription (see Configure Subscription Products Based on a Season). Subscribe collects the charge from the subscriber on the start date of the upcoming season. Based on how you have configured your Season Sets and Billing Plans, the subscriber is granted their seasonal entitlement several days prior to the start of the season or on the day the season starts. (Alternatively, their entitlement may have never been revoked.) Subscribe will add the Entitlement Days from the Billing Plan for the Subscription to these dates to determine the specific day the user will be entitled for the upcoming season. The net result being that the user may be granted access to the service (entitlement) on a date other then the day on which the user is charged for the seasonal subscription. On successful payment collection:
  • An additional Transaction is generated if applicable, including any applicable taxation, and charged to the subscriber’s on-file payment method.
  • Future billings are correctly predicted.
  • Appropriate Entitlements remain in place.
