Enable Subscribers to Purchase an Additional Subscription Using Payment Method On File

You can enable your subscribers to purchase an additional Subscription using the Payment Method they have on file. To enable this functionality, you must use Subscribe APIs.

Basic Scenario

An existing subscriber accesses your self-care portal and adds a new Subscription using their existing on-file Payment Method.

Design Approach

As shown in the following diagram, you must use the subscriptions endpoint to add the new Subscription to the existing Account with the appropriate Product ID and Billing Plan ID.

• Proper Subscription is created in Subscribe using the subscriber’s existing Account and Payment Method objects.
• The initial Transaction is generated if applicable, including any applicable taxation.
• The Account has been granted appropriate Entitlements, if applicable.
• Future billings are correctly predicted.
