# Enable VIPs to Purchase Perpetually Free Subscriptions

You can enable your VIP subscribers to purchase perpetually free Subscriptions. To enable this functionality, you must use the Subscribe APIs.

## Basic Scenario

A subscriber logs in to your storefront and enters credentials that identify them as a VIP. The storefront allows the VIP to select the VIP Product and Billing Plan to create the Subscription without any requirement to enter payment details.

## Design Approach

Subscribe allows you to create a Subscription that is free and does not require a payment method. Should the Subscription ever try and charge anything, it immediately goes into hard failure and is ended in accordance with the grace period settings.

**Note:**

As a best practice, Vindicia recommends that you use an annual Billing Plan to grant VIP access to reduce processing. However, any Billing Period duration will work (day, week, month, year). The only requirement is that the Subscription must be free of charges because there is no payment method.

You must use the subscriptions endpoint to create the VIP subscription with the free VIP Product and the annual Billing Plan without providing a payment method.

## Create the VIP Subscription Using Subscribe APIs

Configure a free product that grants VIP entitlements ([Configure Perpetually Free Subscription Products for VIPs](2104_r_configurePerpetualFreeSubs#)).

To create the VIP subscription.

1. Call the subscriptions endpoint subscriptions endpoint to POST the VIP subscription.

   `https://api.staging.us-west.vindicia.com/subscriptions?dryrun=0`

   In this request payload you do not pass any payment method. As long as the subscription is free, the VIP subscription is created.

* Proper subscription with account objects are created in Subscribe.
* Initial zero-dollar transaction is generated if applicable.
* Future billings are correctly predicted.
* Account has been granted appropriate entitlements.
