# Installing and Upgrading Subscribe for Salesforce Applications

To install or upgrade Subscribe for Salesforce:

* you must be a Vindicia Subscribe customer
* you must be running Salesforce.com Enterprise Edition (or greater)
* you must have administrative privileges in your Salesforce instance

For first-time installation of the Subscribe (Basic) or (Premium) applications, Vindicia strongly recommends that you install them in a sandbox organization and connect that organization to the Subscribe STAGING environment. This lets you familiarize yourself with the Subscribe applications in a controlled environment, and applies only if your Sandbox does not contain your production data.

**Note:** If your Sandbox gets refreshed with your production data, you need to wipe all Subscribe data, connect to Subscribe STAGING, and reimport your test data. This is necessary because your billing data has unique IDs in PRODUCTION and STAGING.

The correct installation flow requires you to first install Subscribe for Salesforce (Basic), and then use the procedure again to install Subscribe for Salesforce (Premium)

1. Obtain the installation link from your Vindicia contact point

The link will be in the following format:

2. If you are installing into a sandbox organization, replace the initial portion of the URL with: `http://test.salesforce.com`.

   For example:

3. Log in to your Salesforce instance and go the provided install link.

You are prompted to select your Subscribe application access.

4. Select **Install for All Users**.

**Note:** If you select **Install for Specific Profiles** there is an additional step, in which you provide access to the desired user profiles.

The installation process begins and you are prompted to acknowledge that the Subscribe application will be connecting to a third party system (the Subscribe APIs).

5. Grant access and continue the installation process.

The installation process normally takes a few minutes. If it takes longer, Salesforce alerts you that a notification email will be sent to you upon completion of the installation. Click to accept the alert message. You can proceed with other activities while you wait for the email notification informing you that the installation has finished.

6. If you have purchased the Subscribe (Premium) application, repeat this installation procedure for Subscribe (Premium), using the link and other information provided to you by your Vindicia representative.

When the installation is complete, you must configure the Subscribe applications before you can start using them. See [Configuring Subscribe Applications](r_configuringSubscribeApplications).
