# Importing Data - Automatic and Continuous

**Before you Begin:**

* Importing data requires Administrator privileges.
* Make sure that you have installed and configured the Subscribe for Salesforce applications prior to data import. See [Installing Subscribe for Salesforce Applications](t_installingSubscribe).

## Setting a Start Date

**What you need to Know:**

After a successful installation and configuration of the Subscribe applications, you are ready to start your data import into Salesforce. By default, the start date for the initial import is set to **1/1/2010 12:00am**.

1. To get data from Subscribe prior to this date, go to **Custom Settings** > **Import Log** and set the **Next Extract Start** variable to the earliest date you need. You can also adjust the initial start date to the first date of created data in Subscribe you want to import into Salesforce.

## Setting up Continuous Import

After you set the start date, go to the **Subscribe Admin** tab. At the bottom of the page, click the **Start continuous Import process** button. This button starts a continuous import job that runs across all the objects, in the following order:

1. Imports ALL Products

2. Imports ALL Billing Plans

3. Imports ALL Rate Plans

4. Imports Accounts \[created: `since -> to`]

   **Note:**

   This job runs only if you have checked the **Import Accounts Separately** checkbox on the **Subscribe Admin** tab. If this flag is set to `False`, job #4 does not run, and only Accounts that have Purchases are imported as part of the Subscriptions import job #5.

5. Imports Subscriptions \[last modified: `since -> to`]

6. Imports Transactions \[last modified: `since -> to`]

7. Imports Credits \[last modified: `since -> to`]

8. Imports Refunds \[last modified: `since -> to`]

9. WAIT \[as defined by **Default Refresh Interval** on the **Subscribe Admin** tab]

After all eight jobs complete, there is a wait period (in minutes) defined by the **Default Refresh Interval** variable on the **Subscribe Admin** tab. When the wait period ends, the import process resumes with job #1. The `since -> to` timestamps vary depending on how long one full import sequence, including the wait period, lasts. The window used for \[`since -> to`] on the next import sequence is set as follows: new `since` = previous `to` and the new `to` = NOW. This allows for an elastic time window during which the data is fetched, and can accommodate large data imports during peak periods while catching up during off-peak periods.

Each of the eight import jobs leverages pagination. You configure pagination by setting the **Page Size** variable in: **Custom Settings** > **Import Log.** The default page size is 100. If your Subscribe environment includes many name-value pairs and the objects are data-heavy, you can set the **Page Size** to a smaller value. Because of the integration limitation Salesforce imposes, page size settings can vary widely from one organization to another.

**Note:** Ensure that Page Size value does not exceed 100 and that the order of the object sync is not changed.
