# Subscribe Configuration Guide Introduction

Vindicia Subscribe serves as a cloud-based subscription management platform providing a comprehensive billing and recurring payment solution.

Vindicia's merchants can use different features of the product based on the agreed contract and configuration of the system as well as integrate with other Vindicia components.

## Purpose of This Guide

Vindicia Configuration Guide introduces Vindicia employees to the configuration mechanisms available to them. It provides instructions and considerations when setting up a system or feature for a merchant. At this stage, the guide serves as an internal training and deployment tool. In the future, some of these configuration settings may be available to merchants and then training will be available to them

**Important:** When setting up the system, configuration should be defined as per the merchant requests as provided in the Merchant Account Configuration (MAC) document, Onboarding doc, SOW and other merchant inputs.

## What is Subscribe Configuration?

Vindicia Merchant Configuration and Merchant Options serve as the general configuration for any merchant. The interface is in Subscribe Merchant Portal 1.0 and available to Vindicia internal admins only.

Merchant configuration is used to define and customize the working environment for your merchants. Options include settings as varied as the payment providers they use, the users allowed to access the portal, a merchant email notification settings, and their auto updater frequency setting.

The platform uses different mechanism to define behaviors and functionality such as:

* [Configuration Method - Merchant Options](merchantOptionsAbout)
* [Configuration Method - Decision Rules](decisionRulesAbout)
* [Configuration Method - Payment Providers Routing Rules](routingRulesAbout)
* [Configuration Method - Merchant Name-Value Pairs](subscribeNVPAbout_C)

Although these are different methods, they function holistically to allow us to configure the system as requested by the merchant without requiring code changes.

Settings are edited separately in Staging and Production environments and are not copied over from one to the other.

Currently the UI merchant options settings are listed in a random order. Use the following main areas to understand how to configure the different settings and consider any conflicts.

**Note:** Part of the settings described in this book are required and others are optional.
