# Adding a Merchant Account

In order to configure a Merchant, a new Merchant account must first be created. This is performed by Vindicia employees with Admin privileges in Subscribe Portal 1.0

**Note:** Remember that a separate merchant will be created for the Staging environment and for the Production environment.

1. Using an Admin user, access Subscribe Portal 1.0 [https://secure.staging.us-west.vindicia.com/login/secure/](https://secure.staging.us-west.vindicia.com/login/secure/)

2. Select **Admin** > **Create A New Merchant**

   The New Merchant Configuration screen appears.

3. Enter the following details:

   | Field | Required/Optional | Description | Values and Notes |
   | - | - | - | - |
   | Jira Ticket # | Required | The Jira ticket number associated with the new merchant creation , which includes all the identifying details |   |
   | Merchant Name | Required | The merchant’s full legal name name, as defined by the merchant. | example: Vindicia INC. |
   | Merchant Login | Required | Abbreviated or full merchant name | Lowercase characters only |
   | Address, City, State, Zip Code | Optional (required for Avalara tax configuration when we are using Avalara white label solution ) | Enter the street address, City, State (or Province), Zip Code (Postal code) |   |
   | Phone Number, Fax Number | Optional | The merchant's main line |   |
   | Email Address | Optional | The email to use for the merchant | example: [yourname@vindicia.com](mailto:yourname@vindicia.com) |
   | URL | Optional | The merchant's website | example: [www.vindicia.com](http://www.vindicia.com) |

4. Click **Submit**.

   The Merchant account is created. Continue to Merchant Options.

5. Generate an hMac key for the merchant to authenticate that Push messages are received from Vindicia.
