# Creating and Testing One-Time Transactions in the Vindicia Sandbox

Do not create PayPal transactions until Vindicia Client Services has notified you of the completion of your configuration on Vindicia’s sandbox (the Staging servers) for PayPal Express Checkout.

To create a one-time transaction with PayPal as the Payment Method:

1. Create a Vindicia Subscribe `PaymentMethod` object and set its `type` to `PayPal`.

2. For the `PaymentMethod.payPal` attribute in the `PaymentMethod` object, construct a PayPal object as follows:

   * Set `PayPal.returnUrl` to an existing URL to which the buyer will be redirected after Vindicia Subscribe successfully captures the transaction.
   * Set `PayPal.cancelUrl` to an existing URL to which the buyer will be redirected if the transaction capture fails.

3. Construct and populate a `Transaction` object.

4. Call `Transaction.authCapture` on the object.

Vindicia Subscribe returns the `Transaction` object with the following settings:

   * `Transaction.statusLog[0].status` is set to `AuthorizationPending`, meaning that the buyer must take action for this transaction to complete.
   * `Transaction.statusLog[0].payPalStatus.redirectUrl` is set to a URL on the PayPal sandbox, at which you can view the simulated customer's experience. Save that URL for testing on the Vindicia sandbox (see below).
