# One-Time PayPal Express Checkout Transactions

## Authorization Flows

To authorize a one-time PayPal transaction in Vindicia Subscribe, you can either call `Transaction.auth` and `Transaction.capture`, or call `Transaction.authCapture`. The authorization flows for either option are described below.

## Authorization Using Transaction.auth and Transaction.capture

The authorization flow when calling `Transaction.auth` and `Transaction.capture` is as follows:

* Calling `Transaction.auth` changes the `TransactionStatusType` to `AuthorizationPending`.
* Calling `Transaction.finalizePayPal` changes the status to `Authorized`.
* Calling `Transaction.capture` queues the Transaction for capture.
* When the PayPal capture batch is run, if the Transaction is successful, the Transaction status changes to `Captured`.

## Authorization Using Transaction.authCapture

The authorization flow when calling Transaction.authCapture is as follows:

* Calling `Transaction.authCapture` changes the `TransactionStatusType` to `AuthorizationPending` and queues the Transaction for capture.
* Calling `Transaction.finalizePayPal` changes the status to `Authorized`.
* When the PayPal capture batch is run, if the Transaction is successful, the Transaction status changes to `Captured`.
