# Tax Item

An individual tax assessed for a specified jurisdiction.

## Attributes

| Name | Type | Description |

| object | string | Value is “TaxItem” |
| jurisdiction | string | The sku for the tax jurisdiction |
| name | string | The description for the tax jurisdiction |
| amount | decimal | The amount of tax assessed |
| external\_tax\_name | string | The name for the tax or fee as provided by the tax service; corresponds to **Imposition** in Vertex and **TaxName** in Avatax. |
| external\_tax\_category | string | The category of tax or fee as provided by the tax service; corresponds to **ImpositionType** in Vertex and **TaxGroup** in Avatax |
| external\_tax\_identifier | integer | **For Vertex tax vendor implementation only**: This is a read-only (int64) identifier for the tax vendor's external\_tax\_category for a specific tax imposition. It corresponds to the `ImpositionTypeId` received through the Vertex API. |
| external\_jurisdiction\_name | string | The name of the tax jurisdiction for this tax or fee as provided by the tax service; corresponds to **Jurisdiction** in Vertex and **JurisName** in Avatax |
| tax\_rate | decimal | The effective rate used to calculate this tax as provided by the tax service; corresponds to **EffectiveRate** in Vertex and **Rate** in Avatax |
