# Push Notifications

Push Notifications, also referred to as `callbacks`, `webhooks` or `event-driven messaging`, allow your system to receive and act upon events as they occur, without the need to pull data using the API.

You can subscribe, any number of times, to any number of Event Classes (categories), or individual Events (messages), and receive, when those events occur, Push Notifications as HTTPS POST requests with a JSON message. Vindicia Push messages are intended to be actionable on their own, not typically requiring a subsequent API call. As such, they include the full related object or objects, aligned with the Event or Event Class, in JSON format.

Vindicia supports 2 versions of Push Notifications:

* **Push Notifications 1.0**
* **Push Notifications 2.0**

Both provide the same basic event-driven message functionality. Going forward, new events (messages) and event classes (categories) will be added in Push 2.0.

This chapter includes:

* [Setting up Push Notifications](Setup)

* [Testing Push Notification](Testing)

* [Setting Up Push Notification Listener](Setting_up_a_Listener)

* [Push Event Classes and events](Push_Event_Classes_and_E)
